"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know
my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and
lead me in the way, everlasting." Psalm 139: 23-24
When the Psalmist was led by God to pen this part of the
Scripture, he was brought face to face with his utter depen-
dence on the Lord and his inability to hide anything from Him.
He recognizes, in verse 5- 6, "Thou has beset me behind and
before and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me: it is high. I cannot attain unto it." (Beset;
means to surround closely, or intersperse. A good thing in
this case.)
In verses 7 thru 12, he describes the impossibility of hiding
anything from the Lord God, whether to flee from Him or to
expect the darkness to cover him. This is followed in verse 13
by the explanation. The Lord God has filled, controlled and
is in possession of his reins. (To empower, govern, guide and
restrain.) Joyfully submit to Him in all things, and be blessed
beyond what you may hope or even think...
If anyone else were to take control of an individual, it would
certainly be a negative thing. It is the Lord's work; wonderful,
and well beyond our understanding. As an example, we turn to
Psalms 139: 14...
