Why We are Here (John 7:16-17) 12.01.12
What are the basic precepts one must understand in order to
determine why we are here and what to do with the time we have
been allotted. First, we must begin a determined search to get
wisdom one needs to rightly relate to our creator and the people
near. You and I are here on this earth for reasons and the reasons
belong to God. We are His creation or work. We are His and he
orders our lives for His purposes. We are His and the end of life
will place us in His awesome presence, where we will be accounta-
ble for the deeds "done in the flesh." So, If I find something to do,
as His Child, I must do it “heartily,” as to my Lord. I must also do
it in service to Him and in a way that will please Him. Everything
I do is to bring glory to His name and praise Him so others may not
see me, but to see Him in me. While I do not denigrate self, being a
creation of the Most High, I do not elevate self, for that is God’s
business. In His time, God will glorify His own. If I question whe-
ther or not a matter is His will or selfish ambition on my part, I
know he is going to show it to me if that is my desire, according to
John 7: 16-17. “If anyone wills to do His will, He shall know con-
cerning the doctrine...” When I relate to others, it is as though
they relate to Him. I stand in His place for others and see God in
them...Not Pantheism, but theology. Through the eyes of God we
see His creation for what he or she might be in a right relationship
to our heavenly Father. Divine potential, not “Human Potentiality.
I am familiar with the doctrine of three in one; God the Father,
God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I do not claim to understand
it. There is one God. “God is a Spirit...” Christ was God on earth
and inhabited flesh, the Incarnation. The Holy Spirit came to earth
upon Christ’s return to the Father to comfort, empower, guide and
indwell believers and through them, convict and reclaim the lost.
Three persons manifest in one; Jesus Christ is the one to whom we
relate. He works in us through his Holy Spirit.
Philosophy is the theory behind our practice. If there is to be
success with our philosophy, we must handle every challenge with
prayer. Philippians 4: 6-7 We must study God’s Word “religiously”
as in 2 Timothy 3: 16-17, and make every decision according to
Matthew 7: 11-14, as we relate to others. “As you would that men
should do unto you, do you even so unto them.” In practical terms,
a good deal is only a good deal if it is fair to all parties involved and
does not adversely effect a third party. Along with this, when we
are involved in a commercial venture, we use each facet of our
work to set up situations in which we may communicate Jesus Christ
in a natural manner and use income from the venture to assist those
in need.
keeping in mind that my best is puny, and aside from being under
under control of and empowered by the Holy Spirit, I cannot please
or even serve God. My faith is in Christ, His finished work on the
cross and His daily intercession at the right hand of God the Father
on my behalf. Finished refers to what He did while on the earth.
Our philosophy can be summarized in two sentences. “You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your mind... You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On
these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matthew 22) It’s important to remember all of the above works,”
are incapable of changing one’s eternal destiny. The “Faith” part is
not works and is a gift from God as are all “good and perfect gifts.”
(James 1: 17) "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen, for by it the elders obtained a good
testimony." (Hebrews 11: 1-2) They believed God and their faith
was "accounted to them for righteousness." That righteousness is
worked out in a daily walk with the Lord. We must have the "mind
of Christ," if we are to be dead to the flesh and live only as He lives
through us. In Philippians 2:5-8 the Apostle Paul states, "Let this
mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form
of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made
Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond-servant, and
coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a
man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death,
even the death of the cross."
Why are we here? You and I are here to become Christ to this
depraved, deceived and indifferent world to whom Christ has
become a by-word and God is a Santa Claus. If you and I ever
get ourselves aligned with the teachings of Christ, make them
our own and consistently live them out, we will change our world,
one person at a time. If we do not, their blood will be required
at our hands since we do know the truth. We must let the truth
"out" so It can set men free.
(John 8: 32 and 14:6) Jesus Christ said He is truth and if you know
the truth (Him) you will be free as you come to the Father through
Him. Let us bring them to the Father and turn Jesus Christ loose in
the marketplace as we serve Him there.
