MY HOPE IS IN THE LORD!!! ...a Favorite

During  the past few weeks, having spent time
reading  liberal, conservative and  Libertarian,
articles  and  posts on  the  internet I find; The
consensus they reach is uncertainty, instability
and a severe decline in all elements of our cul-
ture.  Polls show a  decline in  persons  in  our
culture who describe themselves as born again
followers of Jesus Christ and growth in a num-
ber of persons in  our country who do not iden-
tify with any religious group.

There are  few who  have a very positive  outlook
and  many who  prophesy doom and  gloom.  Each
faction  is convinced, if their party fails to win the
next  election,  there  is  little  hope  for sustaining
life as we know it in "the greatest country on God's
green  earth" or even  the planet. (the quote comes
from Michael Medved of talk radio.)

Although the people who come to power or hold
office  during the  next 2, 4 or 6 years may make a
difference in  our lives,  according to  the book we
read, there  is one  who is still in  control and will
not permit mankind to spoil his great, "Sovereign"
plan.  (There are times when we are all inclined to
lose  focus of  the fact that  the  plan of  our  Lord
encompasses,  not only the  life  span  of  creation,
"earth," but  extends  into a  measureless  eternity
where mankind will live forever and ever with our
Creator-God.

In mark 13: 22-37 we read:
"For false Christs and false prophets will rise
and show signs and wonders to deceive, it pos-
sible, even the elect. But take  heed; see  I have
told  you  all  things  beforehand.  But in  those
days, after that tribulation, the sun will be dar-
kened, and the moon will not give it's light; the
stars of  heaven will fall  and the powers in the
heavens will be shaken.  Then they will see the
Son of Man  coming  in  the clouds with  great
power and  glory.  And  then  He will send His
angels, and gather together His elect from the
four winds; from the farthest part of the earth
to the farthest part of heaven."

Now, just what part of this prophecy do you
think we can influence?  Our Lord has a plan.
He will carry out His plan and those who fail
to get on board with that plan will be nonenti-
ties in His  kingdom.   There  are  many  such
statements  in  God's  Word.  Some   given  to
prophets and the Patriarchs of the Old Testa-
ment   era.  Many were given by our Lord  as
He walked  on this earth.  Some were written;
and uttered by the Apostles of our Lord in the
New Testament  era, and  some  were  uttered
from Heaven by our Lord since His ascension
to the Father  following his  death, his  burial,
his  resurrection  and  ascension.   These  are
found in  the book of  the  revelation of  Jesus
Christ penned by the beloved Apostle, John.

One of my favorites from Jesus Christ is...
"Behold I stand at the door and  knock.  If
anyone hears my voice and  opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him and
he  with me. To him who  overcomes I will
grant to sit with Me on my throne, as I also
overcame and sat down with My Father on
His throne."      Revelation 3: 20-21

Can there be a more positive message of hope
to our  world  today.  To all  prophets of doom
and gloom,we say; "We are overcoming in the
power of our Lord, Jesus Christ. This is not of
ourselves.  He is doing a  work among, in, and
through us, in the power of his Holy Spirit. We
are  simply  recipients of  His love, grace  and
mercy.  It  is in his almighty hand and  there is
none able to remove us from that hand.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them,

and they follow me. And I give them eternal life,
and they shall never perish; neither shall any
one snatch them out of my hand.
My father who had given them to me, is grea-
ter than all; and no one is able to snatch them
out of my Father's hand.  I and my Father are
one."
