First, let's establish; a prophet is one who
preaches the "Word of the Lord." He may
be one who foretells future events as enligh-
tened by the Spirit of God or a modern day
"prophet" who tells forth the Scripture, as
directed by the Spirit of God, who indwells
believers. When one preaches the Word of
God as he is "filled" of the Holy Spirit, he
is a Prophet. When one "preaches" from
the flesh, without the "filling," he is a false
prophet, or apostate. He may do this out
of ignorance, or with evil intent...Read the
passage; (Acts 18:24 thru 19:27)
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the
spirits, whether they are of God; because many
false prophets have gone out into the world. By
this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that
confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is of God, and every spirit that does not confess
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of
God. And this is the spirit of Antichrist, which
you have heard was coming, and is now already
in the world. I John 4: 1-3, Romans 10: 8-10
"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but
rather that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in
an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto
God; for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the
Spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth,
speaks unto men to edification, and exhortation, and
comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edi-
fieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the
Church. 1 Corinthians 14:14
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in
sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening
wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men
gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"
Matthew 7: 15-16
It is said of the Devil; "Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary, the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, see-
king whom he may devour:" When God makes a statement
of a human ("prophet") having qualities similar to Satan, it
is a serious, "damning" designation.
So, we see the false prophets are not of the Lord, but of the
"Adversary," Satan, or the Devil. They cannot speak truth,
for the message is always false and damnable. Their intent
is to deceive, destroy and interfere with the work of God's
Spirit in this world. Therefore, there will be lies and half
truths in the message. Some will be deceived, but the Lord
has chosen those who will see through Satan and his "Pro-
phets" through faithfulness to the Lord God and His Word.
That Word is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. We neglect his
written Word to our peril. (See Psalm 119: 11, 105, John
1: 1, 14)
In the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, we see;
"He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and
his name is called the Word of God." Revelation 19:13
